Lehman Brothers should pay for climate change

I get this a whole lotta times, sometimes with a heavy load of accountant’s dedication to numbers, mere stupidity or as a joke. It goes like this:

– How much does climate change cost? (if we ain’t doin’ jack…)

– Uhmm, well, according to Mr. Stern, you know, the guy with the Stern report on costs of climate change, it would be around $300 billion a year.

– Alright, let’s start the fund raising, sounds like a lot of work!

– Probably we should focus way more on systemic change… you know…

– Man, no way, cut the green crap, Stern’s is only 10 times bigger than Lehman Brothers’ turnover in one year!

It hurt.
