Transcarpathia, August 2024. 2Celsius is proud to have participated – represented by social researcher Adela Fofiu, in a study tour within the frame of the project “Green and Inclusive Agricultural Policy – Steps Towards”, lead by the Information Center “Green Dossier” from Ukraine and aimed at promoting sustainable practices in agriculture and supporting local farmers in the Carpathian region.
During the tour, members of 2Celsius and partners engaged in frank conversations with local farmers and explored the unique landscapes of the Carpathian mountains. From visiting mountain farms to learning about traditional Hutsul customs and products, the tour provided valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities faced by farmers in the region.
The tour also included visits to the Museum of Hutsul Bryndzya, the Molfar tea factory, Shypit Waterfall, and other popular tourist attractions in Zakarpattia. Discussions focused on the importance of protecting natural sites from uncontrolled tourism, promoting local products, and adapting to climate change.
2Celsius extends its gratitude to the Ukrainian hosts, “Green Dossier”, for their warm hospitality, as well as to the Association of Polish Organic Producers Polska Ekologia, and other project partners for their support. The organization looks forward to future project events where common challenges and opportunities related to sustainable development of mountain communities can be further discussed.
Soon 2C will publish a detailed report on the Transcarpathian trip. For more information about the project “Green and Inclusive Agricultural Policy – Steps Towards” and 2Celsius’ involvement, please visit Green Dossier or contact office@2celsius.org.
